Today in Frederick the weather was quite nice. I took my eldest to lunch and we rode in style. Riding with the top down was definitely the way to go. I have to wear a hat though, don't want that skin cancer.
We had to cut out of work right on time to allow my eldest a chance to eat before going to her primary summer job. You see, she is helping me out at the office this week since the Administrative Assistant is on vacation. The week is almost over and I am looking forward to having both my girls and my wife at home.
Happy Fourth!

Quality Time
What matters most? Your status with Jesus Christ matters most! This isn't what this Blog is about. The next important thing are your relationships with your family, extended family, friends, neighbors. Today I got to enjoy the company of my oldest daughter who is home from college, and miss my wife and daughter who are both out of town for several days. Both my daughter smake me laugh and I enjoy the so much. I try to show them and tell them these things that make me happy.
With Tim Russert going to meet the Lord, much to everyone's surprise, I feel it is important to let those close to you know that you love them. You can do this in msny ways, but the way you choose needs to be the way they want to recieve...TIME. I mean QUALITY TIME, watch a movie together, and talk about it afterwards. Tonight, we watched Flags of Our Fathers. If you haven't seen it, I would encourage you to watch it with your children (13 and over) and talk about the emotions that this movie raises. WHile talking about the movie don't forget to tell them thanks for watching it with you or how much you enjoyed their company, or how these emotions a strong similar to how you feel about them.
Well, the movie is over and my daughter has headed to bed. I am going to take some of my own advice and mention to her how much I love her and enjoyed spending the day with her.

Cow Crossing
Have you seen the article in the Frederick Post? It was front page headlines. I realize we all have lives to lead and errands to run, but getting upset about cows crossing Boyers Mill Road. I live very near this crossing and have to say that if you don't like the ruralness of the area then move. I believe the farmland was here first.
The second thing I'd like to say is, have some respect for each other and don't speak in such a way as to create tension. If you can work together for a good solution, then you should. There are so many more important issues in our neighborhoods, cities, counties and states that this one should even register on this blog let alone front page news.

Finding a Dentist
Well, be sure you know what you Dental Coverage is and if it is a PPO or HMO. Shortly after moving to Frederick to a position with a new company, my wife needed a crown. The Dentist she found was exceptional, friendly and professional. So Dr. Haley Tate is in your plan use him. For us, we were in a HMO which Dr. Tate didn't participate, had we been in the other plan by the same carrier things would have been better. So long story short, we had to pay the entire bill. So make sure your Dentist confirms that your covered first.
Finding a Home
Well, one Realtor is not the same as the others.
When we started our search for a home, we first identified the two to three Middle Schools that our daughter would attend based on the High Schools. I used the website http://www.psk12.com/rating/index.php to research the schools. Another site you may consider is www.fcps.org(note not www.fcps.edu that's in Virginia). I identified Middletown and Linganore as the two primary candidates for High School. Then my wife contacted the Middle Schools that fed these High Schools for a visit. It was near the end of the school year and only one school had time for us, Oakdale Middle School. We were very impressed with our visit to Oakdale Middle School.
We had already been talking with a Realtor, who will remain nameless. It appeared to us that she wasn't realy listening to our concerns. We may have been saying one thing and meant another, but we determined that working with this Realtor didn't work for us. So shop around until you find the right one for you and your family. Finally we stumbled onto the "Plum Team" Pat Plum and her team went out of their way to help us. They listened, and listened some more. Then they helped us identify and buy our new home. So if your still looking for the right Realtor, consider the Plum Team.

Some of our favorite and least favorite Food Establishments
Houlihans - at 5215 Holiday Dr in Frederick, near the Mall. Went there 3 times and each time the service has been excellent and the food was outstanding.
Mexacalli Cantina - at 467 West Patrick Street, on Route 40 between Downtown and US-15. Our oldest daughter and my wife found this place. If Mexacan Food is what you are looking for, this is the place to get it! Great Food, Great Service and for a resonable price!
Mealeys on Route 144 in. New Market. An excellant dinner and very good service. I liked Mealeys better than the Dutch's Daughters. 06-29-2008
Dutch's Daughterat 581 Himes Avenue • Frederick. went there for the company "Holiday" Party. The Service was excellent and the food even better. Mealy's watch out.

First Year
Well, we moved to Frederick County in late July 2007 and today I was looking for information on what to do in Frederick since we just put our youngest daughter on a plane with her youth group. Much to my surprise, there was little information about things to do. I stumbled on a Blog regarding Frederick Maryland which prompted me to start my own.
I will write about places we visit, including restaurant reviews. As a newcomer to the region, I generally find that most Fredericktonians, those who live or work in Frederick County Maryland are friendly, but it is hard for someone new to really break in to a church, make new friends other than a casual acquaintance. For example, my daughter went on a church youth group trip to a conference today. She has been in the youth group about 9 months, and the group arrived and started going through the airport security we could see that she had fallen to the outside of the circle of girls she was with. It is hard for newcomers to feel that they fit in and are welcome and events like this make me feel sad. I pray that we taught our daughters to reach out to newcomers. For you see, I was in the military for 20 years and moving every two to three years.
I would venture to say that even though Frederick County has a Military Base, the amount of transient population is fairly small. So the question I have is do you feel you and your family are inclusionists or exclusionists?
